1 item, 2 different price points, same vendor

Is there a way to load 2 different prices for the same item, ordered via the same vendor? We have items that are billed 1 price if ordered via PO and another price if delivered by the rep - a BILL only PO. We'd like to set two prices so that the end users can select which item to use rather than having the buyer update cost on the PO.

Good Afternoon,
Lawson Version 10 user here. We have accomplished this in the past by using the "Purchase-From" locations designated in PO10.2/AP10.2. You are able to create pricing for the same item with the same vendor on two separate vendor agreements in PO25.6, with each connected to a different Purchase From location.

For example, we have a couple items that a rep brings in as consignment for specific cases but are used and stocked by our OR for others. We have them set up in two separate IC locations, each referencing a different Purchase From location. (For stocked items we don't designate the Purchase From, but for consignment items we use "CONS") When the item is scanned for reorder from the consignment location, it pulls the consignment pricing and vice versa. It may be a workaround and does require duplicate maintenance sometimes, but it has worked well for our needs.

As mentioned above, different participants works as well (differing IC locations).

I'm not sure I'm understanding how this would work. We don't use requesting locations within participants in CM for any of our contracts.

Rather than manage another IC location, could you create the purchase from, the extra vendor agreement and then have the end user change the purchase from location on the req? Would it then update the price after that change is made?

I ran through some further testing right now of your requested situation. I don't have access to Requisition Center in our Test environment, so I am running these tests through the RQ10 form.

When the item is added onto the requisition initially, it will pull pricing from whichever Vendor/Purchase From is set up as the primary in IC12 for the IC location you are working with. To update the pricing on the line level, you have to remove the unit cost, remove the vendor agreement reference, and add in the Purchase From. Then it will pull in the correct pricing from the other agreement.

Why not just give your requester access to override contract pricing for the Bill Onlys? You are adding a lot of maintenance to your staff for no return.

I would do this by using different priorities on the contract – that eliminates the need for the different participants or purchase from. You can put the lower priority contract on a template – so you could have a bill only template and a direct purchase template. If the requester didn't use the template, it would come through at the "default" contract price.

We would also do this via PO15 Templates. The issue I would have changing the requester settings is that it allows them to change the price on ANYTHING and quite frankly, I don't trust them that much.

The bill only folks tend to treat whatever pricing the sales reps say as Word of God when it is really really not - it's more "this is what I remember from last case"

Thank you to ALL who have responded. I appreciate all the feedback. RE: the priority and template, I'm interested to know how to set this up. So I would build two contracts in CM - where does the priority field come into play? If I set the default contract as the highest priority and build a template for the lower priority contract (BILL only) would it be necessary to build a default contract template?

I don't like creating extra work for my limited staff and maintaining the contract and the template doubles the work effort. The first response to your question is truly the best scenario. Set up a Bill Only contract and tie it out to Bill Only Requesting Locations and give it the higher priority. Only requisitions from the Bill Only Requesting Locations will pull the pricing from that contract. All other locations will utilize lower priority contract automatically.
