Using FTP node to get files off ftp site

I can send a file to a remote server using FTP node sucessfully ,but pulling a file from a remote server does not work. Gives me file/folder does not exist. In fact it does this if I drop a file on remote server and then turn around and try to get that exact same file. Basically all Im trying to do is reversing the source and destination in that node. Does that sound correct or am I missing something? Thanks

Are you using a configuration set to identify the server, login id and password and if so are you swapping configuration names? When you flip the source and destination are you flagging the source server as remote?

Yes that is correct . The config stuff is all setup in Rich Client and those are switched as well

Are you adding the file to the remote server, then immediately turning around and pulling it?

I believe our development team may ignore files created/modified in the past 5 or 10 seconds to avoid grabbing files that are still being written to. If you are putting it there in the flow, then immediately grabbing it ... put a wait node for 5 or 10 seconds between the one that puts it there and the one that grabs it.

No not immediately. File has been there for a few days.

If yes, On the flow that puts the file there

..what file path do you have in there for source and destination

NOTE: MOST of the time I encounter these types of incidents the issue ends up being one how FTP is set up, what the home directory of the FTP is set to. I also typically just get a copy of the flow, and prior workunit logs to figure out what is going wrong.

Also, the full error message usually provides me some information as there are actually several different versions of this error that are thrown for slightly different reasons. Some use "folder does not exist" some use "folder doesn't exist" ... subtle differences can sometimes shed light into letting me figure out the problem.

Consider opening a ticket with Infor Process Automation Support so we can review/share that information.

Along those same lines: some FTP Servers have an account setup for write only (i.e. put only) or read only (get) of files. Can you verify that the account your are using is a bi-directional account.

Banks are notorious for allowing you to pull a file only once -- then the file is deleted or moved to another (archive) directory. This prevents you from downloading a file twice.

Or conversely, you can put a file and they "immediately" move it to another location. You can put (write) but not read or delete or rename the file.

These FTP Server settings are totally independent of the local file settings.

You might also check if the account is "Jailed" on the FTP Server. Most modern/secure FTP services are.

Yes using ftp node for both the put and get. the ftp site is a remote area, and yes I have an Infor case open
