I/O tables and Oracle Connection

I'm using an Oracle database query that returns BOD xml (select ionadmin.EmployeeXMLOut_DOS from dual). This is scheduled to run daily.

Document flow consists of: Oracle Data Base as BOD Source, Sync Mapping, Infor application.

How would I use the COR Inbox table to confirm which records were processed successfully on application side prior to executing Select statement...

For example if BOD's were not processed for a few days, I would need to check which records I need prior to executing select statement

On Oracle Connection point you would have to define that it can receive document of type Acknowledge.<noun> (in Scenario select first option, I think it is: use incoming document to write to the database). In Statement field you would have to define a procedure call on Oracle side. Procedure should be able to take xml as an argument.

For SQL this statement looks like this:

EXEC UpdateOrder @xmlData=';[Data]';

In stored procedure then there is a logic on what to do with @xmlData (which contains your Acknowledge) and how to parse the content.

Interesting question. Can we take the problem another way ?

Would you be able to track records sent to the application and mark them as "processed/not processed (by app)" on your side in Oracle (by using a duplicated table for example) ?

According to Infor recommandations and OAGI standards, an application sending a Sync.MyBOD message does not expect any answer from the receiving application(s). Anyway, the application can definitely send back an Aknowledge.MyBOD to Oracle, telling Oracle that the records in this new BOD have been integrated successfully in her database. Integration of the Aknowledge.MyBOD message would result in marking the records as "processed". As a result, your initial query would be easier to do.

Writing new records in this duplicated table if achievable by adding a DB connection point to your document flow in a parallel step when sending the Sync.MyBOD

I'm new to using ION and "inherited" existing code and document flow.

The existing document flow consist of three objects in the following sequence:

1. Oracle database function as source of BOD xml.

2. sync.personnel Mapping

3. Infor Application connection

The document flow runs once a day.

The Oracle Function source code updates a source table as "processed" by checking if database user who connected last was ION. Not good.

In this scenario I have no idea what happens after "select ionadmin.EmployeeXMLOut_DOS from dual" is called.

In a nut shell function does this:

1. get_date of last call function

2. select ionadmin.EmployeeXMLOut_DOS from dual where 'get_date'

3. update records as processed.

So how would I incorporate an Aknowledge.MyBOD into this process?

I need some way of ensuring the Infor Application has processed the BOD.

The OAGIS Patterns are pretty clear and are covered in our ION training. You would then have another function that processes the Acknowledge.

To implement Acknowledge;

1) your application needs to emit a Process verb instead of Sync.

2) ION flow would transfer that to the Infor application Connection.

3) That Infor application would need to handle the Process verb and Noun data.

4) The Infor Application would then need to output a Acknowledge .

5) A flow would then occur back to the Oracle connection point.

6) The connection point would need to process that Acknowledge data, updating the respective tables.

There are other ways to solve for this if you can do it on the initial output, which is very common. However you have no assurance other than ION Flow trace ability and Error BODs and error messaging, to know the transaction was completed.

That is part of a bigger design discussion that without context is to big to address here.
