We are starting our MSCM upgrade from version 10.1.8.14 to 10.1.8.28 and will be upgrading our TC51 handhelds operating system from Marshmallow to Nougat. We also use Airwatch for remote management.
We are working with Emkat at the moment on upgrade of handhelds but it looks like to upgrade the operating system that the device needs to be wiped first then Nougat installed. As this is a large update, it is recommended that to save time that the TC51 be docked using an SD card for update. Then after we may need to reenroll into Airwatch. To upgrade our entire fleet of TC51's in this way still seems time consuming and inconvenient as we would need to track all the units down (spread over multiple locations/buildings/towns).
It was mentioned that it is possible to do update to Nougat via Airwatch and we are still pursuing this course to see if this is preferable. However wondering if anyone else out there has updated TC51's from one operating system to another via Airwatch/Remote Management and if so how did it go? Any issues you might share to make this easier/faster?
Thanks.
