PR39 -refund a premium deduction

We have started having issues with doing a negative one time deduction to refund a benefit premium. We just upgraded to Lawson 10.1. My benefits specialist is new and doesn't remember having issues before the upgrade. I did a chat session with INFOR and they told me to take out the end date on the employee's PR 14. Is this the correct way to get a refund. The status on the PR39 is current.

If an employee does not have any pay/hours, the PR39 negative amount for the refund will not take place. We use an hours only pay code called ADJ for Adjustment, if there are hours and no pay the refund can take place with payroll or with PR36 or PR80. If you have questions, please let me know.

Hello NFuller, we had a similar issue that started in July when trying to do reimbursements on the PR80 when no hours or earnings were entered on the PR80 timerecord. We did not have the issue in our TEST region (patched at the same level) until we refreshed our data from PROD to TEST - the issue came over in the data refresh. We had not installed any CTP patching so we ruled that out as the root cause. We worked with Support and spent many hours trying to figure out why the functionality all of a sudden changed. We came up with nothing. After 2 months of issuing reimbursements through our AP system as a workaround, we decided to proceed with creating an hours only pay code as suggested below for an adjustment. Before adding the pay code, we tried to do the negative deduction on the PR80 one last time and voila! it suddenly worked again. We had not installed any patching in that 2 months and never determined what caused the functionality to stop working and start working again. Blows my mind!

After you enter a one time deduction on the PR39.1 screen are you transferred to the PR39.5 screen to enter a date range. We just upgraded to 10.1. I don't have a PR39.5 screen.
