Does anyone allow exempt staff to pick up non-exempt shifts?
If so how do you process the pay? Do they get 2 paychecks?

We have a separate pay policy for those performing a non-exempt job that is completely different from their regular job. For example, we have a college with our hospital, and some of the professors pick up nursing shifts on the floors so they can keep up their license. They get paid a lump sum per unit worked, with 1 unit = 4 hours. All their pay processes through our timekeeping program (API) and is paid on one check with different pay codes.
