Tips for running OperaII on TS

We have a customer running on an old version of OperaI 6.91. They have about 15 users running on TS 2012 running Office 2010 (VM). I know there are issues with Opera running with Office 2010 where the icons go missing but they don't have this issue. On TS they get random errors during processing (listed below). After they terminate Opera and re-try the same process it works fine. They have another 50 users running on the LAN running on a mixture of W7 and W10 PC's. These also error from time to time but the majority of the errors come from the TS.

We have plans to upgrade them to the latest version of OperaII in the New Year which will then allow us to upgrade Office to 365.

Any tips for minimising these errors would be much appreciated. They won't be buying Opera3 because they've been taken over and the group are moving to SAP.

We have disabled AV realtime scanning of Opera and disabled shadow copy during working hours

Do they have any sort of disk quotas in effect? The issues seem to be related to disk space, at least in part.

hi rick, the storage data - this could be that the user needs to clear down their temp files. I fyou go to %temp% or something & delete whats in there.

The other three, we have seen this on several Terminal Server sites & the solution is that theyre not signing out from the session properly, they're simply clicking on the TS cross on the blue bar.

You can check if someone has done this by going to task manager>users then you can see "disconnected logins". it will say "signed in" then in brackets, disconnected.

Thanks for this. We have scheduled to logoff disconnected and idle users @ 8pm. Once users have been kicked off we are going to clean up all the VFP temp file locations

Yeah, doesnt really jump out as the solution! But we had a few people getting "Alias is not found" etc & couldnt log into Opera. Did the usual, uninstalled the client, reinstalled - nothing. Then as a last resort we signed out & back in as a different user, Opera worked.

Signed back in as the other user & it didnt - which was puzzling.

So we signed out as that user (properly) & then signed back in as the same user & Opera all worked.

We asked if they were signing out on a night correctly, instead of just clicking on the cross & they had never been shown how to do this! We found on most TS sites, that the hardware company deployed this, but didnt relay to the users what they need to do on a night.

Hope it resolves the issues!
