Set up for out of state employees

We are in the process of adding out of state employees and need asssistance in the setup. Set up changes have been made to HR11, PR13, PR06, PR05 and PA52 but no withholdings were deducted. Please let me know if we are missing any steps or if there is something else that needs to be done. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have the new state(s) setup in BSI?

Now that you've created the deductions in PR05, you need to add PR14 deductions to the employees as well--for both state income tax and unemployment.

I reached out to our Payroll Manager with your question as we just went through adding out of state employees for the first time and here is the response I got from her:

"One question would be did they run an update on PR13.8 in update for the employee or PR113 if it is for allot to actually assign the deductions to the employee records. If they employees are already in the system like S3 adding the PR05 is not enough. You need to updated the tax deductions. This happens automatically when they come across from GHR after everything has been set up."

I work in HR, so I am not sure if this is helpful information or not. But I thought I would share just in case.

The position needs to have the correct work location address assigned PA02. Then PR113 or PR13.8 will tell you if the deduction/authority needs to be set up on PR05.1/PR06.1 (make sure authority reciprocity field is Y for both out of state authority and in state authority). Once the deduction/authority is set up then run PR113 for a group or PR13.8 for a single person (which should create the PR14.1 records). You can go to PR13.1 for the employee, select the Tax location button and PR13.7will tell you if the system has it set up for that location. Then on PR13.1, for the state the person works in you have to add "1" to the cert code. This is to represent you have received the certificate of non residency for the state the employee works in. After that it should work. Sorry for all the detail.
