Decrement Inventory without EHR Interface

We're looking to create a perpetual location (currently on par) for our ORs to source from.  Due to another large project we won't be able to implement a decrement interface from Epic right now.  Does anyone have a perpetual that replenishes your ORs  but is not fully integrated with your EHR?  I would like to hear what others are doing to decrement their inventory in this type of situation.

Since we're using par right now staff are using paper pick lists that print from Epic to pull their cases.  Ideally we would make this an electronic process.  If someone else has implemented and perfected something that decrements your inventory I would love to hear what you did and how successful you feel it has been.

We created an interim step kinda sorta like this for our OR but NOT for items with serial and lot numbers (that may be part of our "V2.0"). The OR has items on Par locations as well as items pulled from our main storeroom. We use MSCM, which automates the process on the user (handheld operator's) end when they scan the par locations for replenishment. A separate "faux" perpetual inventory location was created for non-storeroom items. We did not want to go through a monthly closing or valuation process for the OR storeroom, so all items were set up at a cost of $0.0001 and SOH quantities were set at extremely high levels. Thus, even with large quantities of Eaches on hand for an item, the value is small. I run a periodic report to ensure our SOH is adequate and adjust SOH if low. Finance agreed to ignore the inventory value and transactions in this Storeroom, since again, the overall impact on our Financial system is not significant.



This setup allows us to scan Par items, issue from either inventory depending on how the item is set up in IC81, track usage and, if we need, replenish that inventory via IC140 or IC142. Further, if the item is not a stocked item but instead needs to be ordered from the outside, the IC81 record is set up to point to a vendor. This inventory functions wholly within Lawson and is not connected to our EHR (Epic). Should we decide to make this inventory live, we would adjust inventory to zero, do a count and add back all items at their correct price. This enabled us to improve our game via automation, mirroring the function of our working inventory using tools we already had in place.
