Edge on Chromium engine - GA soon!

Is anyone tracking Edge on Chromium? Microsoft expects to GA it mid-January. A few facts I've learned:

Edge on Chromium becomes the only Edge version. So it subsumes their old slow proprietary Edge version.

Edge on Chromium will be made available back to Windows 7 OS.

As of GA, on Windows 10, Edge on Chromium is the ONLY browser shipped. No more IE11.

Edge on Chromium has a "IE mode" available for specified sites/domains.

I've happily used the Edge on Chromium beta for months. Really nice Office 365 integration. Some extensions for Chrome aren't available yet though...

As of this writing, Edge on Chromium is as fast as Chrome.

IE has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

So, I've tried Edge. The IE user interface is old, and familiar. The Edge interface, when I tried it, was new, unfamiliar, and thus confusing. It was as if it was written by a bunch of arrogant genius programmers who have no sympathy for the ordinary schlub who has to actually use their software to get real work done. So if the "new" Edge is as bad as the current Edge, there will be a lot of trouble out here in the real world. Can you comment on the user interface?

I didn't care for Edge at all either. What a waste of time. However, to each their own... Try it yourself (just go Beta instead of Dev or Canary): www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/.../download

I can say that I've confused myself while using the new Edge and thought I was using Chrome at times.

If it can kill all the banner and pop-up ads, and actually keep my personal information private, it would be worth it.

But not holding my breath.
