LID on LSF S3 10

I've heard various answers to the question "Will LID still work in LSF S3 10?" from different Infor/Lawson resources. Anywhere from "It's going away" to "It's still there but you have to enable 'developer mode'." Could someone who is on LSF S3 10 please provide a definitive answer?

Yes, LID will work for developer purposes. The key here is Lawson Security, which is a requirement for Lawson 10. So, if a user is setup with LS=Y, they will not be able to access application forms in LID. So the only way LID works for form access is with security off. But LID for using environment programs will work if security is set appropriately.

Net net - your end users CANNOT use LID in Lawson 10. THey must use Workspace/Ming.le or Smart Office.

I thought I had read in a LawsonGuru letter that Lawson 10 does NOT check the CheckLS Flag.
It assumes that the F;ag is set ON.

It probably does, I defer to John on that. But either way the result is the same. If Security is ON then the end users cannot use LID.

One quick follow up question: does jobdef and jobschd work in LSF S3 10 in LID?

For the developers - Yes
For the customers - No - they utilize Smart Office Job Wizard to create their Job Processes

so as an Admin I still want to use Lawson desktop interface so I can use all the utilities such as pgmload, dbdump, jobschd and so on and I should be able to without any issues in the LSF I just need to set chekck ls=no, am I understanding that correct

I don't know what would make you think you can do anything in Lawson without any issues.

Yes, jobdef and jobschd and other environment utilities are still accessible via LID. You would not set LS=N. You would have to setup specific security within LS to allow access to those environment programs and then you would be able to access them as you do today.

Is Smart Office Job Wizard a new utility? We are on Smart office 10.0.4.30 and cannot find it.

We are currently on Infor Smart Office 10.0.5.
Under Navigator -> Lawson Transactions -> Lawson Jobs & Reports -> Lawson Job Wizard
Under Lawson Jobs & Reports is the Job Scheduler, Job List, Print Manager, Recurring Job Definition, and Submit Job
Please remember the user must have security to see one or all of these functions.

Currently upgrading the Smart office to 10.1.1.5 - wish us luck!

Good luck! We just installed Smart Office 10.1.1.5 and are beginning user acceptance testing. So far, it's a great design - just beautiful. We have a mix of Portal & LID users that will be migrating to SO. So far, my LID users would like a shortcut to jobdef. I've submitted an enhancement request with Lawson -er - Infor to give admins the ability to create global custom hotkeys. Fingers are crossed.

I've been told there will still be a way to run the programs in LID for debugging, but I haven't been able to get any details. It seems to me that you have to set up your LID session for character mode??? It sounds like it may make like a little more difficult for those of us who do lots of 4GL development and troubleshooting.

I was really hoping they would move JobDef into the end-user application. We don't have SO and don't intend to implement it, but it would be nice to have a better option than LID for managing complex job setup (i.e. changing I/O file paths).

Those of you that our upgrading to 10.1.1.1.5. Have you used the prior versions of ISO before or is this your first ISO install?

The bookmarks exist in our normal Portal (LSF 9.0.1.11). I believe they are delivered from Infor... Look for the bookmark called "Jobs and Reports" in LOGAN.LOBKMARK file.
Or go into Bookmark Manager and look for it from there...

Give the users access to that bookmark and they'll have it.

Greg - we have the Jobs and Reports bookmark, but I don't see anywhere to change the CSV file parameters, like csv filename, delimiter, date format, etc. That's what is really missing. I'd love to know if there is someplace to do this through Portal in 9.0.1.11.

Me too. I am excited to hear those options will be available via SO unless I misunderstood that post.

Oh, I misunderstood what you were asking then... As far as I can find, there is no way via Portal to adjust the csv filename, date format, etc. I believe you have to do that through jobdef. Or apparently they exist in SO.

If you can get the Lawson Terminal setup correctly, I believe they are available through that....??? I see that the page that the bookmark points to ($WEBDIR/lawson/portal/utility/lawterminal.htm) we do not have... but I remember at one time, we did have it.
Maybe it isn't available anymore either.

I understand that LID went away for the end user in 10, but that it is still available for Admins. Is there a flag somewhere that makes me an Admin according to Lawson S3? For example, I can either sign in as 'lawson' or myself using LID and execute "lapm PL hr11" or "lapm PL cu201" or create 4GL pgms and everything works because I'm an Admin. However, our other person that is also supposed to be an Admin can only run those same commands when signed in as 'lawson', they receive a message to contact the system administrator. We both have the same LS roles and are both in the Administrator group on the windows server. What am I missing? (I know I'm special, but not THAT special)

It's the PortalAdministrator flag in LSF security that will allow access to HR11, for instance, but no batch or report jobs will run from LID for any user - not even lawson

Same for both admins( Access=Y,CheckLS=yes,PortalAdministrator=yes)

Sal is correct the batch job WILL NOT run, but the job submit form will display. PortalAdministrator flag doesn't control HR11 though. I can execute HR11, the other admin gets "Please contact your system administrtor".

Main reason this is a pita is two fold, 1) the other admin does a lot of 4GL, but can't with their account, only Lawson, and I of course can do 4GL with my account, 2) extreme has been asking us of the last few webexes to go into LID to debug and they can't use their account, only Lawson, and I of course can. Note: the other person with 'pseudo' admin privileges also happens to be my supervisor...

It's been a long while since we had to deal with this. If I remember correctly, anyone with CheckLS=YES can access LID if they have a PC with LID installed and their Role includes specific executables under the ENV profile within the Lawson Security module. If both of your RMID records are setup exactly the same with the same Roles/env security, and you both have OS permissions on the server, and you both have LID installed on the PC ... are you both administrators of your PC? This may have nothing to do with LID access, but It seems we had to be an administrator of our own PC to have certain access within the Lawson Security module.

I concur with Turner. When LAUA was still active I had access to LID using my personal admin account but that went away with LAUA. There were several 'pieces' to the puzzle but the not so obvious ones=OS permissions rolled over from LAUA. Also, some settings on our system appear to be case sensitive; ie yes vs YES. Sometimes a simple update without changing anything realigns the access.
