Derived field issue with spaces

Has anyone found a way to create a derived field with a space?  For example, I'm trying to create a derived field with last name, first name middle initial.  The space between the first name and middle initial does not appear.  I've tried " ", space but nothing is working.  If I put a comma or any other character, it's fine but for just a space, it doesn't work.  Is there a special character you have to use to represent a space?

You should be able to do this with this type of code:



if condition

return

"<LastName> <FirstName> <Initial>" (there are spaces between each field)

else

return whatever...



I haven't done it in a derived field, but mocking it up it isn't yelling at me, and I HAVE done it on a form, like this and the spaces before and after the dash are picked up:



text of untranslatable:"<this instance(locale of blank).Name.PreferredFirstAndLastName> - <Employee>"
