Ming.le Foundation Install
mbozenik
Our server team created a VM with 2012 R2. SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2012 have been installed on the server. Do I need to tell them to rebuild the VM using Server 2012? I went ahead and tried the Ming.le Foundation Core install and got to the point where it asks for Infor Ming.le Foundation Configruation. Provide the information related to the Infor Ming.le Foundation. It asks for a user name(domainuser):. By default it populated the spInstall account. I gave it the proper password but all it does is give me an alert box: Please enter a valid user password. -- I know I have the proper credentials, but I still get this message. Is this 2012 R2 taking a bite? I tried a mingle service account and got the same message. Should I be using the spInstall account or a generic mingle service account we created? Do I need to install DSP first?

Have you logged a case with Support? Are you working with anyone on the install?

I asked them about 2012 R2 and never really got an answer. So I pressed on. I was hoping someone could say for sure. Just running Ming.le Foundation on a single server. SP 2013. Ming.le found core install is the first step that I expected to be bitten by R2. Just thought I would have gotten further along. Do we need to rebuild the VM with 2012?

We now support 2012 R2 with LSF 10.0.7, but I thought that Ming.le supported it for a while. I would pursue it with Support. I haven't heard of this issue with any of the early adopters of 2012 R2. You should not have to revert.

I just asked that question and was told that Ming.le has been supported under 2012 r2 since December of 2014. I was told the compatibility matrix will be updated.

Sorry. I didn't update this. Yes. Ming.le Foundation 11.1.5 is supported on 2012 R2. The support matrix didn't indicate it was and I thought that might be the problem I was having during the install. Going through the configuration wizard I can get past the welcome screen, destination location, database server login and everything passes, then I can get through the Infor BI web site config, but when I get to the Infor Ming.le Foundation config and it prompts me for credentials and the domainspfarm account name and password are provided, it returns an alert box with this message: Please enter a valid password.
The domainspfarm account and password are correct. I can use it to connect to the server and to the site and everything looks good. So now I'm trying to figure out why it wont authenticate through the Ming.le Foundation install wizard. NTLM with basic authentication was specified for the site authentication providers.

I would point you to Support - I am not in the habit of installing nor do I have an environment on which to troubleshoot that. Let me know if you aren't getting anywhere that route though.
WIth regard to the Compatibility Matrix - are you talking about the Lawson Compatibility Matrix, the Online Compatibility Matrix, or something else. As Ming.le is an Infor (versus Lawson) product, I don't believe its platform compatibility has ever resided in the Lawson Compatibility Matrix document. There are references to which versions of Ming.le are supported with which versions of Lawson products, but not Ming.le to the OS platform. I would expect that information in the Ming.le install guide, or the new Online Compatibility Matrix. Just trying to better understand where you are looking.

I have a ticket open with Lawson.
The on-line compatibility matrix, like you said, wasn't clear. The original install guide I used wasn't clear either. Later on I downloaded another install guide and found where 2012 R2 was supported. My guess is the original install guide I had wasn't for 11.1.5. Anyway I restarted the whole process using 2012 R2 and the most current install guide and I'm back at the same point. Hopefully Lawson support will provide the clues I need to continue. I'll post my findings.

Is your case currently with the Lawson team or the Ming.le team. My read of your note is that this is a Ming.le install issue and you haven't even hit Lawson yet. Just want to ensure you are being serviced in the right place, although Support should sort that out on their own (sometimes it takes longer than it should though).
What is the case number?
mbozenik
Thank you for the heads up.
It's assigned to the Ming.le team.

Lawson global support came through. For some reason when prompted for the infor ming.le foundation config credentials and entering the domain and login it was trying to do local authentication. We could see it in the customutils_log.txt file in the ming.le destination folder:
4/24/2015 2:45 PM Error : ValidateWindowsUser() - Trying to validate against the local computer The server cannot handle directory requests.
4/24/2015 2:45 PM Error : ValidateWindowsUser() - Trying to validate against the local computer The network path was not found.

So he started the certmgr on the sharepoint server logged in as the spinstall account and under current user certificates for the spinstall account changed the certificate purposes from "enable all purpose for this certificate" to "disable all purposes for this certificate" -- Went back to the configuration wizard and using the spinstall credentials clicked next and it worked.
I have to give Lawson support credit for that one.
