Inspection or Testing Required on PO line detail

Has anyone used the Inspection or Testing Required check boxes on PO Lines?

Our biomed department wants to be notified when equipment arrives so they can go inspect it, before it is deployed for patient use.  This seems to be the purpose of these fields.  I can't find much info on them, however.  I'm curious about what the difference is between them.  I did find documentaiton that says that Inspection will allow the product to be received but then an inspection must be performed as part of the receiving process.  What is the Test Required function?

Just wondering if anyone has used it and what your experience is.  Also, if you know if the Biomed team, doing the inspections would need to have receiving capabilities.  The documentation I did find makes it seem like this is part of the receiving process.

We use it. (It's actually part of the IPA presentation I did at Inforum!) The lines can be flagged on the PO line (more button) or on the receiver line (detail tab). If the flag is Y, you can release but not print the receiver.

There is an out of the box IPA that will email based on that receipt release trigger.

Our BioMed is outsourced, so they don't actually have Lawson rights - we have the IPA clearing the inspections as they have their own software for the inspections, etc.

You would need to test but what they needs rights to is PO34 - not necessarily PO30 - to work the Inspections. It should be possible to separate the two.

 

Sorry - Edit:  The native Lawson Process is - Create receipt where PO Inspection: Y (Yes) - Release receipt.

Record is created on PO34 (Inspection Accept or Reject) for all lines flagged.  When you release that, it lets the Receipt print.
