How to make a record read only based on a property value within the Items form for 9.00.10

We have a requirement to make a record on the items form read only if the product code equals a certain value otherwise the record can be modified. What would be the best approach for achieving this?

Do you really intend *no-one* to be able to edit the item once it is created? That could make life very awkward in the long term.

I think Row Authorizations are the best route. You can deny delete, update and bulk update permissions for the SLItems IDO 'where' the Product COde is a certain value. Bear in mind Row Authorisations don't work for the sa user and (I think) Superusers.

You then need to apply the Row Authorisation to any Groups you use which have access to the Items form. You can of course create a special Group with unrestricted access to the Items form.
