Infor ION without MEC

Hi,

I used Infor MEC without ION for integrating all trading partners and had very little issues in the process.

I now work for a company using Infor SCE WMS which apparently cannot use MEC, but only ION. I've tried using ION as the single 'middleware' tool but its almost impossible to design anything but simple specifications. For example a header and details flatfile encased in an envelope (EDI Envelope); using ION this requires many work-arounds.

So should ION only be used alongside MEC as it still seems to be in the development phase.

Or is there another integration alternative for Infor SCE WMS?

Hello,

ION is the integration component of Infor OS and works with all Infor products (as well as 3rd party apps); M3 is one of them and MEC's role is only to be the bridge between ION and M3. MEC is tied to M3 and nothing else.

If you work with another Infor product, there is certainly other tools on SCE side that will allow you to exchange BODs between the WMS system and ION.

Thanks Maxime. Looks like ION Is fine to exchange data between Infor products and M3/MEC is suitable for on-boarding trading partners but I'll have to look at alternatives for integrating external non-Infor data into SCE WMS.

I think Maxime summarized it pretty well. From what I know, ION is the official (external and Infor internal) integration tool. And in Mult-i-Tenant cloud, integrations using MEC are even not possible if I am right, but I am not 100% sure.
