TaxFactory 10 on an iSeries
unknown
Has any iSeries clients successfully installed TaxFactory 10d? If so, can you review your Production Environment Configuration and post a screen shot of your Client Web Server Configuration screen. We are getting page can't be displayed error messages when attempting to access the client application and have not had any luck with BSI yet.

Yes, we have. We were getting "Page cannot be displayed" when trying to connect to the Host. We simply had to turn off the Windows firewall on the client.

Thanks Nicky. I am glad to hear that we are not the first ones trying to do this. Our issue was with the JDBC JAR file. We now get the sign on screen, but it will not accept the username and password that were entered on the Client Environment setup screen. Do you know if there is a default TF10 user and password that should be used initially?

Please see attached screen shot. The Apache Tomcat6 - PRD needs to be started under services on the Windows server machine.
TF10 is the default user name and bsi is the default password

You both got further than I did. When I try to install the client on my desktop, I get an ODBC connection failure. Did either of you run into that problem? By the way, I selected the JT400 option to connect to the iSeries.

Did you specify a path to your jt400.jar file and did you use the DSPRDBDIRE command to get your Database Name?

Yes! I spent two hours on the phone with BSI iSeries experts. We had problems with the ODBC connection until we went to the PATH statement of the System variables under the Advanced tab in system properties of the windows server.
The database name is TF10DATASET pointing to the TF10 library.
You don't install the client anymore. You access TF10 from Internet Explorer on the client locally via the Windows server running Apache Tomcat. See my attachment.

Nicky my questions were for Mike who was having issues. My system is now working, at least it was yesterday. I was on the phone with BSI for an hour. The Client Installation documentation is very misleading. It sounds like your setup is different from mine. I don't think the attachment you sent yesterday is what you intended to send, it is just the initial sign on screen.

Brenda, Yes, I did the DSPRDBDIRE command and entered that into the Database name on the install screen.
Nicky, did you mean you made changes on the Windows client? Our server is the iSeries and we are attempting to connect from a Windows 7 desktop using an ODBC connection.
unknown
Mike, make sure you are using a valid iSeries user name and password on the Web Server Configuration screen. If you are trying to use the TF10 user it must first be created on the iSeries in order for the ODBC connection test to work.

Brenda, Set up the iSeries user id for TF10 and I can now install the client. Now I get the "Page cannot be displayed" error. Did you have to do something on the iSeries to get port 8091 open (or get it to listen for a connection?).
unknown
Mike, when we initially received this error it was resolved by restarting the Tomcat services. We did not have to do anything on the iSeries to get port 8091 open. These are the instructions for restarting Tomcat:
Go to start => control panel => administrative tools => Services => Right Click on Tomcat and click restart => Right click on the TF10XML service and click restart.

Thanks for the quick response but unfortunately I still get the same result.
