Requesting Location Ordering from Multiple IC12s on the Same Requisition

Is there a configuration that would allow a requestor to order from more than one IC12 location on the same requisition. What I'm trying to see is if a user can pull up their default requesting location and order what they need without needing to know which From Location it's associated with. They would place the items on the requisition and it would either route to the vendor (default IC12 based on their requesting location) and then to the inventory location which is a different IC12 and off-site warehouse for picking.

Is this possible? We use MSCM and would like to avoid using templates if possible.

What do you mean you use MSCM? You are pulling up par locs? Yes, IC81 and be set at the line to pull from a warehouse or vendor.

You can't use MSCM to just order any item - it has to be built on the IC81 as far as I know.

As Kat said, for MSCM the item has to be built in IC81 for that par location. Then use IC81.2 (the More button) to enter the source of the item - warehouse item location (IC12) or vendor. Also, if the par location is used for the requesting location in RQC the item source information from IC81 will pull in when the item is added to the cart. IC81 overrides the source information in IC12.

Let me try to explain better. When I say MSCM I know some organizations have RQC templates only for stock items. Since we use MSCM that's really not an option for us. Here's our current setup. Hoping this will help explain what we're trying to do.

RQ01 for requesting location 86101 From Location is NBELL

All items within the NBELL IC12 are non-stock

On the par for 86101 we have items setup to replenish from the vendor but we'd also like to set up items to source to our external warehouse

Our external Warehouse has a From Location of XTRA for picking

Can we set items up to source to both IC12 locations?

We've tested a number of different ways and it doesn't appear that this is possible. I wanted to reach out to see if there's something we were missing. Infor has said it's all based on the header level. So if the header on the requisition has NBELL as the From Location we can't set it up to source to a different From Location on the line level.

Hope that makes sense. Any advice would be appreciated.

Neil, There is no built-in way to order from two IC12s in RQC. You will need to use an IPA. We do this now and have it check 2 warehouses to see if it is in stock first, and if not, we switch the from location to RECV for Non-stock orders. This allows us to keep our stock and non-stock separate for our prime distributor and ensure we don't pay shipping for something sitting in the warehouse.

It can be done manually in RQC, but he requester would need to know they are ordering a stock item and change it on the line prior to release. The header is just the default From Location.

Par locations and templates can both be used to source from multiple locations. As Jon A. said, use the more button on IC81 to specify the location. Template lines can also have different locations to source from if you are using RQC.

OK - yes - on the line you can click More and point to From Location XTRA. To "daisy chain" it you would need inventory and then you need to make NBELL pull from XTRA and XTRA pull from the vendor.

So IC81: 86101 item points to NBELL. If NBELL has it, it ships. On IC 12,2 for NBELL and that item - should pull from company and from loc XTRA.

If XTRA does not have it - it should trigger a replenishment req and that's when you'd have to manipulate it to replenish into the correct location.

If you absolutely cannot make it inventory - then you're going to have to build an IPA to mess with the req when it's released.

Our JIT order from different froms - you can set company/from loc on a PO15 header and it will override and go to the warehouse of your choosing. We use it all the time for dietary and print shop forms.

When they release and the req gets approved, the nonstock goes onto POInterfac for PO23 or PO100 to ship to their native dock, and the dietary/print shop trigger a WH130.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like an IPA is the way to go. If anyone is willing to share the IPA they use I'd love to take a look at it instead of starting from scratch. If you're willing or able to share my email address is below.
