Filtering how does it work?

Hi how does filtering work for a task? Assuming that we add a filter for HR Admin task within one flow , will the filter be enabled for all flows that use that HR Admin task.

Basically our scenario is that for hire action we need to filter the HR Admin task based on criteria but for the remaining flows like transfer etc. there will be no filter value passed. So if a user is enabled for filters will he/she/they not see any workunit that does not have filters set for that task.

Also if there are 2 different filter keys defined for a task and a user is defined for one filter but not defined for the 2nd filter will he /she/they receive all the workunits for the 2nd filter?

Good morning,

Ensure filtering is turned on at the user level for all users.
Ensure filtering is turned on for the HR Admin task.
Ensure filtering is turned off for other tasks.
Ensure filter key/value is assigned to users for the HR Admin Task.

NOTES:
- If filtering is turned off at the profile, and they are assigned the HR Admin task, they will see the approval item in their inbasket.
- If filtering is turned on at the profile, off at the task, and they are assigned the Non-HRAdmin task; they will see the item in their inbasket.
- If there are two filter keys defined for a task, and a user has one of them, they will see the approval item in their inbasket

Wait, are you saying all of these come to the HR Admin Task; but only if it is a hire action does a filter get passed?

Yes. Looks like the best way is to create a new task for the HR Admin flow that will require a filter. We use standard HR admin task for the remaining flows and don't want them to be impacted. Looks like I will have to duplicate all the users in this new task.

Could you explain" If there are two filter keys defined for a task, and a user has one of them, they will see the approval item in their inbasket" Supposing a person has one filter for HROrganization and another for HROrganizationUnit will he able to see all workunits of HROrganization if no filter value is passed for HROrganization?

So I create a task called HR Admin, assign you and myself to it with filtering on. I give myself
Filter Key = HROrganization, Filter Value= 1

I give you:
Filter Key = HROrganizationUnit, Filter Value=1

If a workunit comes in with "Key=HROrganizationUnit"; "Value=1":
I do not see it
