Temporarily end benefit deduction on employees only

We need to remove employee health deductions for a couple of pay periods. Our set up on BN15 has employee and company deductions set up, but we don't want to stop the company deductions, only the employee. I'm believe stopping on BN32 would end both deductions. Does anyone know what a good way to do this would be?

yes, that is definitely possible. this would be similar to updating the cost sharing for the health insurance each year. Here is what would need to be done.

1. On bn18.1 - options amount enter a new start date for when the employee deductions will stop and only the company deduction will continue.

2. On bn19.1 - option rates the new start date should appear at the top. enter a blank amount for employee and populate the company with the amount for the company deduction for each plan option and hit add or change depending on how the screen looks.

3. Run bn105 - plan update, for each plan that is being updated. If there are multiple plans they could be run on the same report. the output of the report should show only a company deduction being updated for the employee.

4. Confirm on bn32 - employee benefit changes the employee deduction has stopped and the new plan has started with only the company contribution.

when the employee deductions need to resume follow the steps above except re-populate the employee amount in bn19 with a new start date. I would not recommend updating the plan that was created with only the company contribution as Lawson may attempt to process retro deductions against the employee.

If it is not important to have the fact that you temporarily stopped the employee deduction reflected in the plan record, you could temporarily blank out the deduction cycles for the employee deduction code on PR05, then run PR115 for that specific deduction. It will clear the deduction cycles from PR14 and prevent the deduction from being taken. When you are ready to turn the deduction back on, add the deduction cycles back on PR05 and run PR115 again.

We did this same thing in April for most of our employees. Our premiums are wage based, so the higher tiers still paid, but we didn't want anything to come out of the lower tiers. The process Tommy outlined is exactly what we did. We didn't change the deduction cycle, because we still wanted back premiums, arrearages and the higher premium tier to come out. We did have an issue with the dependents falling off the plans and had to load them through BS531, but several patches later, that was corrected.
