Creating a Bi-Weekly feed to Lawson payroll, but with weekly totals.

We use API Time & Attendance & Lawson payroll. We create a bi-weekly feed from API to Lawson to create the time record, calculate OT, etc. Currently, when that data comes into Lawson, it is group with a pay period end data. So Lawson has the pay period totals, not the weekly totals. We would like to change that to contain the weekly total and then calculate OT, etc off that data as opposed to the bi-weekly. We would still pay on a bi-weekly basis. Is there anyone who has their Lawson payroll set to do that, while importing data from another system? Thanks!

Hi Megan,

We do this with Kronos - 2 weeks at a time with 2 work week ending dates.

We do have one site that is bringing them in combined for the bi-weekly period and I suspected it was doing the FLSA calculation incorrectly by using only a pay period end date every 2 weeks. Have you found that your OT calculation is inaccurate because of this?

Wendy - thank you so much for your response. Yes - we are going to the weekly data so the OT calculations can process weekly, as opposed to a pay period calculation.

When you say you have a site that brings them in combined, does that mean you are calculating OT outside of Lawson? Have you always imported with the 2 work week ending dates, or was that an adjustment you made later?

If so, do you know how your payroll process in Lawson was impacted?

I (and our payroll department) would be interested in talking with you offline to better understand how the two week end dates impact a bi-weekly process.
