Archiving Payroll and HR History

We implemented Lawson for HR, Benefits, Payroll, and GL in August 1999. We now have almost 21 years of history in our database, with payroll distribution records being one of the largest tables. Has anyone utilized Lawson's purge utilities (PR300, etc.) to purge off data? Any tips/tricks or lessons learned that you'd care to share. We will of course go through this in a test environment first, but thought it might be good to hear other's experience/feedback.

I remember a session at Inforum a few years ago that was quite good - I think the presenters were from.. one of the entities that is now part of Trinity Health? And Trinity is either no longer using Lawson payroll or in the process of migrating off Lawson - not sure. I'm sorry I don't have the presentation slides.

We have not used PR300 on our current apps version 10.0.6 but we have used it in the past for apps version 9.0.1 and prior. We used PR300 for 11 payroll tables only purging one year at a time as jobs run long and easier to balance row counts, etc. You will want to keep any eye on escheated checks to see how they are treated. And we've used PR300 for PRDISTRIB only purging one quarter at a time.
