Conversion of current Lawson S3 portal databases from collation of Latin1_General_100_CS_AS to Latin

What does it take to convert current Lawson S3 portal databases from collation of Latin1_General_100_CS_AS to Latin1_General_BIN. We would need to do both TEST and Production.

Is there any problems/helpful hints on this task? It was suggested to create new databases and migrate/convert current data to the new databases with the correct collation set.

If the database is not large, using the move (new database and then dbreorg) is the easiest way.

If this is a large database, and/or you're sure your data does not contain characters specific to the "old" collation (and that do not exist in the new collation), you can use SQL means to do it in-place. In-place change is usually much faster. However, you may need DBA involvement if there are "bad" characters in your data that do not comply with the new collation. Also in-place conversion will preserve security and custom SQL objects (if you have any and/or care about them).
