How to retrieve M3 username / IFS name from ID in workflow for notification distribution

Hi, I am retrieving the username from MNS150 and the text / name looks correct however ION does not recognise the name so does not send a notification. If I use set parameter / trim I still need to go into ion desk / activities and edit / apply the name in order to re-distribute the notification. I have used set parameter / get IFS person from ID but this does not appear to work either (I get the ID returned if I supply the M3 ID and full name returned if I supply the full name !) . Any ideas on how to get a valid user name from M3 ID for notification distribution ? Thanks.

Hi, I realised I mis-read your instructions and I am more clear now. my guid that is returned on the first api is only used as a kind of authrosiation for 2nd one where I can specify the details of any user to be returned. I have another issue in that I cannot see that M3 User alias field is returned in the searchusers api which I need to provide as input. After that I still have to join first name and last name to provide to the send notification step in my workflow as I cannot use the personid to send a notification to It seems. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Gsingh - what you want to retrieve from IFS is the IFS Person ID. This is what I do within a workflow to get it. The example could be that I have a requestor whom I want to notify that a process is done. To perform API requests for personal information I need a User GUID.
User GUID => Ming.le – Get/SocialService.svc/User/Detail, no input. JSON output is $.UserDetailList[*].UserGUID

To retrieve IFS Person ID use Mingle/SocialService.Svc/User/{userGUID}/SearchUsers. Input is GUID from above request and M3 user ID.
JSON output is $.ColleagueRelationshipList[*].ColleagueInfo.PersonId.

Hi Catharine, Thanks for this , If I need to get the guid for a different user then which api should I use. I would like to pass the M3 id and get back the guid. I guess I then need to retrieve the first and last name, concatenate them and then I hope I can successfully use that name for a notification / task distribution. Thanks for any help.

Hi Gsingh, why would you need the GUID of another user than the user, executing the workflow and thus the "person" doing the API calls?

Hi Christina, Thanks. what I would like to do is look up a responsible (RESP) field in M3 and route a notification to them, therefore I think I need their guid to be able to retrieve their name so I can send a task / notification. As mentioned if I get their full name from MNS150 and use that as a parameter for the notification / task then although the name looks right it is not recognised by ion and so the send fails. Thanks for your help.
