Purge data from a custom business class

Within Landmark, I have made a simple custom business class that holds roughly 2k records with 9 columns.

On a scheduled basis, I'd like to use IPA to purge the data from that business class and then repopulate it with new data.

Is there a purge option in Landmark v 11.0.18 for IPA Lmk Trx node? Especially against a custom business class? What do the actions _PurgeHistory and DeleteAudit do?

For now, I have a trx node that is querying all records from the BC and then nested inside of that is a delete record node. Seems to work well and is pretty fast. I have not seen it in the DB but I just worry that over time, those deleted records are still in the table and it will grow with each delete/re-populate - should that be a concern? Thanks.

It was an issue for us at Penn Medicine, in that over time performance would noticeably degrade if we did not occasionally purge business classes of records flagged as deleted. The process is a bit cumbersome though, and we're still looking to improve it. Generally, the steps we follow were recommended by Infor as follows:

(1) Run dbexport to export UserBusinessObject_Storage and UserField_Storage so you have a backup of user business classes

(2) Run dbcount to get record counts of the business classes you intend to delete, along with counts of how many records are flagged as deleted (and not flagged as deleted--can never be too safe)

(3) Run dbexport to export only non-delete-flagged records (this will be relocated later)

(4) Run dbdeletedata to purge the business class

(5) Run dbimport to import the non-delete-flagged records you exported in step 3

(6) Run dbcount to verify your record counts match what you expected

Steps 3-5 could use improvement, since it temporarily clears out the entire business class before then reloading it. We haven't tried yet, but it may be possible to use parameters on the dbdeletedata command to only delete records flagged as deleted. But again, the process above is what Infor recommended to us, and supports, so check with them if you need more support, especially if you're thinking of trying a different approach.

Thank you Jesse. I will look at this ASAP. What if I just ran the dbdeletedata ? will it delete everything in the business class? deleted records and non deleted records?

We ran it like this template and it deleted everything within the targeted business class:

dbdeletedata -Y yourproductline UserBusinessObject_Storage -f "Name = "YourBusinessClassName""

dbdeletedata -Y yourproductline UserField_Storage -f "UserField_Storage.ClassName = "YourBusinessClassName""

We have the same issue in cloud multi tenant. There is no dbdadatdelete and Purge data option won't work on user defined business class. I had ticket with Infor and they said its not available open enhancement request. I have ER 52504 to have purge option available on user defined business class. Hope it will be enhanced soon. Please up vote the ER if you think Purge data option should be enhanced.

One other option would be to create a purge action in your custom business class

Purge is a Purge Action

This will purge the individual item
