major difference between Lawson version 9 and version 10.

We are planning to upgrade our on premise Lawson version 9 to version 10. We are planning to use AIX to run Lawson environment and Oracle database,  Windows servers for LBI , MSCM and other ancillary applications. What are the major differences in term of technologies and server requirements, Unix and Windows? Thanks in advance.

I have worked with both.  This is not a comprehensive list, just a few comments. Lawson has a mainframe background. It works better with a UNIX like AIX.  Running in Windows, it requires installing UNIX-simulated environment software.  So that when you telnet in, you get their UNIX-style text window, and you can use UNIX-style commands.  Both OS'es require PERL and can run off an Oracle database.  Servers have to be pretty hefty, but it depends upon how many users & how much data.  That's the one part that really requires research, figuring out how much horsepower you need.  I've seen big systems that can run hundreds of users simultaneously, where WebSphere had to run multiple instances just to handle the volume, and LBI was seriously taxed by the volume of data. On the other hand, I've personally experienced systems where there were very few users (under 20 regularly-used accounts), not much data, and even with decades of historical data and moderately-sized servers, response was lightening-fast.
