Backorder settings for IC02 Location inventory items- other than at the RQ01 Req Location?

We have a set of IT items in IC12 set to a IT Location (IC02- HIT lcoation). All of our items are set to FIll-Kill in RQ01. We are curious if anyone has found a way to manipulate a sub-set of items, or items assigned to one location, to do backfill thus override the RQ01 settings? Or, what are other organizations doing to work around items that they would like backordered versus killed (other than by requesting location).

We basically want these items to backorder versus be killed. We are looking for a different way to do this outside of the RQ settings. Thanks for any help or responses!

. Our current workaround is to create a requesting location, and have templates with the items. We have just blasted it that these items must be ordered through #### Requesting Location.

It would be nice we could just create this rule and have flexibility in IC12 per item, instead of RQ01.

While we are not doing this, we are changing the default from location by line via IPA. Since the Fill/Kill flag is stored on the Reqline you could change the flag to "F" easily if they are all in certain locations, even bin groups, gl accounts or name your criteria. I don't think this would be too hateful if you are already using IPA for Req Approvals.

I like this because we are online allocations but in Covid we kinda wanted some items to be batch allocations and to let us pick. The "first come; first served" doesn't work well during a pandemic, but it's just a few items that's hard to sell changing a company setting. Make IPA do it instead.
