IC527 - cost for tracked Inventory and average Cost

I am working with my functional team trying to find a way to get the correct unit cost passed in our IC527 - DEROYAL interface. I have several inventory locations set up that feed to external systems. Some of the items in these locations are set up as inventory tracked. We had hoped this would force the last cost paid to feed in the IC527. I am finding that it actually will only do that if the locations are set with perpetual inventory and you run the IC142 for these locations.

Is this correct? Is there no other way to get the last cost paid sent in the IC527 file when there are no active contract type 'C' agreements for the item in question? Any suggestions on how others have done tis is greatly appreciated.

We're not using this but I'm looking at my IC527 file layout information and I see Record Type 4 (CD2), Sequence 16 shows Order Cost #1: "Unit cost from the Purchase Order Unit Cost default routine using the location from the item location record on which the vendor was found."

So this should populate with the last unit cost at the PO UOM for the vendor in IC12.2 regardless of item type. I've just ran it and the data looks correct. Also the IC500 jobs will only pick up data when there's been a change from the last time it was run. Are you deleting the WORKFILE-IC527 between tests? If not then running IC140/IC142 would create changes that would be picked up.

Our solution for passing unit cost to Epic was to put the cost in a user field in IC11 and create a SQL script that pulls all the information required for the supply interface. It has to be updated manually which can be a pain but I saw no other way to include items that were not on contract.

Thank you for the reply Jon. I did create a FULL file when trying to test this. In my test the CD2/16 field was empty. The last cost for my vendor item is as expected on PO63 but nothing was picked up by the IC527 routine. Will this field only populate if this item /location has IC142 run it?

We stopped using the IC527 because it was only triggering changes on very specific triggers. The inventory has to move in some fashion. Either a new PO is received that changes average cost or a cost adjustment from an invoice occurs. If the average cost does not change, it's not going to trigger the record.

Yes as Kat said there has to be some kind of change to trigger it to populate. But if you delete the WORKFILE-IC527 before re-running it there should be nothing for the system to compare to identify if there was a change and you should get a full file with all fields populated.
