BN297 EIN Population
manisht
I have been testing out how the BN297 format populates on our 1095C form with our MHC print partner and the data looks correct except for that the fact that the EIN number is not populating in the csv file at all. I was under the impression that the EIN would pull directly from the EIN I entered in the BN00.07 to roll everything up into our main company - is my understanding not correct or is anyone else seeing this issue?
On a side note, I am also running into an issue with the printing not resolving on the page properly - the perforation cuts it off in the wrong place. I have already opened a ticket with MHC but anyone else using them for printing having this same issue?

We did have the EIN issue. I looked at the file and noticed it is not in the BN297 output file. Infor has a JT written for it so I expect a fix soon.
We did not have any issues with the perforation. We are using the z fold self seal forms.

Thank you Margie for this response!

FYI the JT was released on the 29th at about 7 p.m.

We ran our test 1095C on 12/22/15 and it has an EIN number in the file. I did have to put it in PR06.2 under Tax Authority of FEDERAL and then enter it in the Additional EIN tab.. to clear the error we were getting when we ran BN297
sriman-shivakoti
What error were you getting? Do you have dashes in your EIN number?
Legacy Contributor
I was getting an EIN undefined message in the error.rpt.. yes I do have a dash in it.. not if that's right or not.

We have a dash and were not getting the last digit. I am putting in the CTP to see if that resolves the problem. The last digit was missing from the output file needed for printing/publishing them not in the print output that you see when you run the report.

Our EIN is being truncated, as well as the zip codes that have an extension.

good catch I didn't notice the missing digit. I took out the dash and now all numbers appear in the file for EIN .. not sure how the number should be in the file.
sriman-shivakoti
The CTP addresses the dashes in both the EIN and the ZIP. We've always had the dashes. I don't want to mess with them and then have problems with out tax files.

I just happened to see a patch that came out for the EIN and zip truncating. For version 9.0.1 that wee have it was:
CTP108705 BN297 1095C.csv truncating EIN and ZIP by 1 digit BN297 JT-867501
I am sure that it is available for other versions as well.

thanks for the CTP number I didn't get a notice that this was updated on the ACA master document.
Is anyone else planning on sending out the 1095C on time for the 1/31/16 date or are they planning on using the IRS extension? We wanted to get these sent out on normal schedule but if there are more fixes to the 1095C coming I don't see that this will be possible.
sriman-shivakoti
I didn't see it on the master document, either. I searched for the KB.
We are hoping to get ours out on time. We want this to be over for the year. Too many other things to do.

Has anyone seen a problem with dependent socials where the leading digit is a zero? We did a test print in MHC and the leading zero was dropped and the dashes omitted. All other ss numbers looked OK.
sriman-shivakoti
We did not but that is probably because we are masking SSNs.
Is it in your BN297 output file (1095.csv)?
Legacy Contributor
Yes, it appears correctly in the csv file. I am in touch with MHC and waiting to hear what they say.
Legacy Contributor
Sharon,
Did you get a solution to this?
Legacy Contributor
Yes, the person that loaded the file into MHC had opened it in excel and that dropped the leading Zeroes.

Anyone else having the flip the regulatory address on the HR00.1 options to get the BN297 to have the address in the right place for the 1095? For 1095, it has to be "1" but for our W2s, it could be "1" or "2." Just looking to see if anyone else ran into this and what's the impact of flipping it besides the employee forms and submission to the IRS. Thanks!
Legacy Contributor
We use option 2 for the W2s and option 1 for the 1095c. We found it works best for us during our testing of the 1095c. Taylor Farmer

Thanks Taylor. We were trying to find a consistent setting for both forms but I guess that we'll have to toggle back and forth. I do plan to create an incident as the selection does not seem to impact the file created for the W2s.
