Technology patch - is there a "how to"?
asztudenyak
I've been tasked with applying a technology patch, and I have not done one in probably 2 years, at least. I see no instructions that are included with this patch, and I have searched for instructions on the KB with no luck. Are instructions no longer included with patches, and if not, is there a document somewhere on how to apply such patches?

Usually find these in the Core Tech Install guide. UNIX or Windows? Slightly different steps depending on your OS.

There is a Infor Lawson Core Technology Installation Guide for each platform and version. Should be able to search documentation for it on support site.
It has the: Installing Lawson Core TEchnology Updates section in it. in
I've attached Unix 9.0.1.12 for Unix

We are Windows, on 9.0.1.13. I am looking at this document:
Lawson Core Technology Installation Guide Version 9.0.1.10
Are you saying the instructions for applying a single patch are in this document?
"Installing Lawson Core Technology Updates"? That section?

Okay...it looks like it's as big of a PITA as I was afraid of. No such thing as a simple technology patch I guess.

Actually, technology patches seem intimidating, but they are relatively simple (in my opinion)
Lawsec off
Stop Was AppServer
extract jar file (jar -xvf)
launch install (java -jar)
finish install
Deploy any new ear files
start WAS App Server
Thats generally the steps.

Much easier now than a few years ago. The process runs pretty cleanly.

"Deploy ear files"
That's a big ol' mess, as I recall. I can't even remember the last time I logged in to Websphere. :-)
I guess if you do it all the time, you get used to it.
But thanks for the info. :-)

Nah... deploying them is not too bad. You simply log into the Was Console (dmgr) and select the application you want to deploy the new ear file, For Example: BPM, navigate to the %GENDIR%assemblycomponentspm.ear and install. Typically, select the default values on each 'Next' > Next.

C Brunelle. I've attached a doc that I had created for myself to facilitate the process. Please know that this is not a replacement for reading and understand the Infor provided guide that Derek had so kindly attached. This may help you out. You may need to update a few specific details to match your environment. After doing this a couple of times, I'll bet you'll become a seasoned patch installer in no time!

oh - please ignore the 'landmark' reference in the header. that's a different doc!

Thank you Marilyn! I am reading through it now. Thankfully we don't use Ming.le or Smart Office so I can ignore those parts. :-)
