Clicking on the globe after logging into Infor version 10
unknown
Is there a way to eliminate the extra click on the globe so that after logging in, it goes directly to the screen with the search box? We are just beginning to test version 10 and testers are complaining about the extra click because it is not clear that you have to do something.

You can use
mingle.domain.com/.../InforSuite.aspx
. Typically, the logical ID is lid://infor.lawson-s3.1. You can go to site contents > Infor Application Deployments. It didn't work for us (page 404), so we need to go to back to our installer. If you put in an incorrect Logical ID, you get a message complaining about not finding the logical ID.

This works for us:
mingleserver/.../InforSuite.aspx

It may not seem like it, but people do get used to it. We kept the separation and use the Ming.le start page to put announcements. We did put a web part on that page as well telling them to click the Globe to get started.
One benefit we see by doing it this way is that when we have a downtime and don't want users in before we're done working, we can restrict access to the Lawson pages and put a downtime message on the Ming.le home.

Great Idea. Make the start page actually useful. If it's got to be there, make it do something useful.
(P.S. you would thing with all the emphasis on a good UI experience from Infor and Hook & Loop they would have figured out a way to bypass a page/screen that causes extra -- useless clicks and that detracts from user efficiency.)

I have forwarded your suggestions to our ERP Core Team in IT. Thank you so much for your help on this!

A comment - the reason for the blank start page is really a function of Ming.le Foundation. The preferred and go-forward delivery is Ming.le Enterprise and that has a fully functional start page. But many customers haven't adopted Enterprise because of the added cost. So, a shell is delivered and it can be bypassed quite easily by the logicalid method already described.
The go-forward direction (beyond 10.0.x) is one version of Ming.le, no sharepoint, and a fully functional start page. The only place where this is an "issue" is in the stripped down foundation version.
Hope that provides a background.

Yes, Hans, that does help. I thought it might be something around Ming.le or SmartOffice. Thank you!

Thank Hans, that does explain. I understand that transitions are often not smooth.
I do like the web part that explains the "click the Globe". RobertCanham: Could you provide an example of what you have working. (Hate to re-invent the wheel).

Here's what we did on our homepage.

Hi Robert, The screen print is so small that it is hard for us to see what you've done and very interested in your ideas for the Mingle page. Would you be able to copy the screen shot to a Word document and attach to this string.
Thank you so much!
robert-canham
Sorry about that, here's a word attachment.

Much better! Thank you so much for sharing what you have done!

Thank you very much for the screen print! We are currently implementing Lawson 10x and that makes the starting Ming.le screen useful.

Thank you so much! Another question....how do you lock out users from changing the Mingle screen?
robert-canham
We did it using the Sharepoint permissons. The IT support team who manages the site has contributor rights, but normal users only have View rights. Ours is set up with STS so we were able to link the Sharepoint groups to the Lawson Roles.

There's a whole different approach possible: Replace the globe with your own graphic. (This is of course not supported by Infor.)
Hans Mueller
Yes, and this has been documented in many UG presentations. Please send me an email at hans.Mueller@infor.com, and I will send you the presentation with this included.
Hans Mueller
Milo - your statement about changing the icon not be supported is not correct. There are no support issues with changing the graphic. And there are no support issues with the steps on skipping the first initial login page within Ming.le Foundation as well.
unknown
Hans - thank you for clarifying, in this case I'm glad I was wrong and that changing the globe into another graphic is supported. (I have changed the graphic only in our Test system for now.)
