Ive seeen this several times in the beginning where youd install scheduler & forget to "share" the c:programdatapeagsus folder, giing it full permissions on but the share & the security tab. If if you go back in & add this, it doesnt fix it & an uninstall & reinstall is required .Hope his helps

Alas, no solution to the specific scenario but we do have a customer with the same symptoms - the backup completes, an error about MSCOMCTRL.OCX in the event viewer and TaskResults.ini is missing.

The Standard permission answers can be easily ruled out if your situation is genuinely identifcal to that of our customer: try a Period End scheduled task in Z company & this will succeed and also write the TaskResults.ini correctly. This way you know for certain that the permissions are correct.

If that works, then we're both in the same boat: MSCOMCTL.OCX failure is the only symptom to go on. I have ensured our customer is on the latest MXCOMCTL.OCX but no change.

yes this is the same behaviour that you are getting as the Period end finished with no issue.

are you using SQL authentication or windows authentication ?

We normally use SQL authentication & I think that's the case here. However...

The taskrunner.exe doesn't talk to the SQL, it just leaves behind the TaskResults.ini for the Scheduler server to pick up & write into SQL. So I don't believe it's relevant.

In testing, a successful taskrunner.exe task will still write the TaskResults.ini even if the Scheduler service or the SQL are stopped (even forcibly stopped) during the taskrunner.exe's run.

I'm using SQL authentication as well.

I will try Windows authentication to see if makes a difference for the backup task.

I agree that it shouldn't make a difference.

Unfortunately not in a way that has a meaningful response. The customer we had experiencing the issue got a new server & Opera was migrated. The problem didn't follow onto the new server.

Hi Alex,

Go to C:ProgramDataPegasus and right click on Scheduler server, sharing, advanced sharing, permissions and give full control to everyone.

This worked for my customer.

I was revisiting this on my local PC so that I can demo it.

I have all of the permissions set to everyone on and upgraded to the latest scheduler 2.20.60

and still getting the message -

Hi all, I've just reinstalled SQL Express 2019 and latest Opera3/Scheduler on local laptop. I was able to setup a backup task which all appeared to work and run however when I logged back into Opera3 and tried to check the Task Scheduler I'm now getting a Task Scheduler Editor error, something to do with 'System.FormatException' ... String was not recognised as a valid DateTime...

Anyone any ideas as I've checked regional settings etc.,. so confused as to what breaks after running a task?
Task Scheduler is just a nightmare :-(

Did you do all the regional settings including within SQL Server as described in KB Article 2073521 ?

Hi, just managed to get this resolved, so not getting the

on my laptop. I found some advice whereby to change the Pegasus Scheduler 'Service' to not run as local account but a network account - so just popped in my claire.craig@xperience..... account (which is the same as the local account) and hey presto, it has worked!

Hoping that will be helpful for local installs but appreciate may need a specific network account setup whereby passwords don't change :-)

That is good but beware that if you upgrade Scheduler which you will need to do with this latest release of Opera it will reset the service account back and you will need to go back into it. I saw this exact problem just recently where the IT dept of the client had set very strict network permissions to prevent all and sundry from having a look at the payslips. In this case we needed to create a specific domain user with permission to get to the payroll pdf folder and then associate that with the service.
