BSI Taxfactory 11

We are planning to move to BSI 11 soon after end of year processing.

Who is on 11 and are there any huge changes that we need to make our payroll teams aware?

On the what's new document from Infor i found this:

ProcessReverseTaxes engine: In TF11, BSI has modified the ProcessTaxes engine so that it will no longer accept or process negative input amounts (i.e. Net Wage, Taxable Wage or Earnings), as proper tax adjustment processing must be processed via the ProcessReverseTaxes engine. Infor has made changes to accommodate the ProcessReverseTaxes engine.

Is this saying BSI will not process negative earnings?

Has anyone had training with BSI on 11 database?

We are doing the same as well - Infor gave us CTP122858 for the test notes. Really need to have this in csv and Infor says they are trying to locate. We need this to be able to sort out and figure out what to test. Any suggestions on how this was tested in other organizations? Pretty big CTP.

are there any other CTPS's needed for BSI other than the 1 in the readme and the the one above? Also, What are the issues others have run into on BSI11? we are starting our testing next week

We just had BSI 11 activated in our Train environment and our 3 and 4 buttons in PRTF are throwing errors. The resolution Infor provided did not resolve the issue. More to come but just a heads up.

Your custom backups need to be restored before 3 & 4 will work. If you are on prem with BSI, Infor can provide instructions on how to do that. If you are in the BSI cloud, then Infor needs to ask them to set you up to see version 11 and THEN you can restore the custom backups.

We recently put TF11 in our test environment and we are finding its not calculating Federal taxes appropriately if there is a Form Year 2020 or 2021 on the PR13 Tax Info2 tab with a dollar amount for Dependents.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

I just tested this, and the amount being withheld for FIT is more in our test system with the scenarios that you described. If there is nothing in the dependent field, the amounts match our prod system exactly. I am going to open an incident with Infor since we are in the cloud with them and BSI.

I literally just made this discovery. Same thing. Fed is not taxing correctly for anyone with an amount in the dependent field. All others are correct. I'll be following. Thanks.

Probably a silly question, but did you install the required CTP JT-1179406 for BSI v11 upgrade?

Anywho.. we are about to start testing to move to BSI 11.

I just got an update from Infor....

A defect was found in BSI’s XML identifier table causing the dependent amount not to be recognized. According to the BSI development team, this will be a xmlserver SaaS Only update (BSI side). I do not have an ETA at this time. Will keep you updated.

Is this working as intended? We are having an issue with negative and positive wages on the same check not calculating taxes at all.

Just curious, how long have you had the ticket open? We have a ticket open with BSI on Eugene OR tax and it's been 2 months!

We are in the Cloud with Infor and BSI. We opened the ticket with Infor in the beginning of Feb when we went to BSI 11 in our test system. We first installed a CTP from Infor which was needed, but did not solve the issue. The BSI incident was opened a week ago.

Hi Sheila. We had the same issue. Our issue was more specific. If it was just negative wages, it was calculating taxes but if it was negative wages associated with a different work location other than their primary, we got the no taxes error. Infor recommended JT-1551761 - CTP123270 (KB 2184664). We installed in in DEV and it corrected the issue

We installed a new CTP JT-1551761 - (CTP123323), which supersedes CTP123270. Infor said that was needed, but it did not fix the issue with negative wages on certain pay codes when combined with positive wages for other pay codes.

I do not mean to hijack this post. However, this thread seems to be the most appropriate to continue dialogue as many customers might be going through similar BSI upgrade situations as us. We are on version 9.0.1.6 (LSF application) and 9.0.1.11 (Lawson environment). What are the latest 9.0.1.x environment(s)? Do we need to apply any preliminary patches (ie. LSFCT patch) before patching up to 9.0.1.15? What are we finding to be the recommended best practices to mitigate risks associated with this required upgrade?

We just install BSI 11 in our Test Environment. Is there a way to recreate this Negative Wages issue in our test Environment? We want to see if we need to load the CTP in Live.

We are on premise on the iSeries. We had this same issue with prtf (getting iOS error). Re-starting Lawson fixed this issue.

We are on Windows. I am running BSI 11 on our test environment. I wanted to confirm, since I can't seem to find the environment variables. Is the new connection string for 11 "TF11_CONNECT_STRING"?

We get the fatal BSI error when an employee has regular wages and then a negative amount for our Advance or Bonus pay codes.
