Unable to load license file for Taxfactory 9
cynthia-bushnaq
We just upgraded our environment from 9.0.1.9 to 9.0.13 and upgraded our Oracle database from 10gR2 to 11gR2. We did not upgrade the Oracle client, we are still using 10g. We upgrade the server with the correct Taxfactory server version for the 11g database and OS. We now are getting an error message "There is no valid license installed for host" when running any payroll job. I contacted BSI support and was told to install a new machine key. I created the key and am now getting an error when running tf90lic -i when attempting to load the license file on the server. I have sent this information to BSI support but am not getting any response from them.
When I run tf90lic as root I get this error.
tf90lic -i machinekey.txt
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program tf90lic because of the following errors:
0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for tf90lic because:

0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the
'dump -Tv' command.
When our System Admin runs the command as root she gets this error.
$ /Lawson/law/taxfactory > tf90lic -i machinekey.txt
exec(): 0509-0306 Cannot load program tf90lic because of the following errors:
0509-150 Dependent module libclntsh.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
0509-022 Cannot load module libclntsh.a(shr.o)
0509-026 System error: A file or directory in the path name does not exit.
Has anyone seen this before or can offer any guidance on how to resolve?
Thanks,
Cindy

Cindy - Try loading the machine key using the TaxFactory Client. I had the same issue about a month ago. BSI support told me to use the client. Don't know why. I had used the tflic command for years to load the license key.

Cindy, check the $ORACLE_HOME/lib path in the lawson.env (environmental) file. there is a file called libcIntsh.a, and libcIntsh.so. Looks like it is still pointing to 10G instead of the 11G path for this file libcIntsh.a.

Robin - I used the client tool and it successfully loaded but I am still getting an error message for no valid license for host when running a payroll process.
Cathy - We did not install an 11G client. We are still using the 10G and are successfully connecting to the database. Do you know if it is required to use the 11G client for Taxfactory?

I never use the client key install program. It never seems to work. I always run the tf90lic or tf10lic command (-i) on the server side. It seems logical that if you run the tf90lic on the client that the client would also need 11G client installed on your C:ORACLE_HOME directory. And if you run the tf90lic on the server side it would need to know where the ORACLE_HOME/lib path is on the server for 11G as well. Since 11G is installed on the server, try running this on the server side first. Again, I never install the license key on the client side and always on the server side. Hope this helps cindy.

Cathy - I agree with you. I have always used tf90lic without issue until last month. I couldn't for whatever reason get the key to load. I wasn't even aware that you could load the key with the client. Regardless, I think this is not the issue that Cindy is experiencing. I think that the Oracle 11g client needs to be installed on the server where TaxFactory resides and then the TaxFactory server component for 11G need to be installed and compiled. I think the client needs to match with the database, even though you are making a connection.

I agree. We have 11g client installed on the PCs and the 11g server and client installed on the server too. But there have been times when the key would not install on the server when running the tf**lic program. We corrected thisby making sure the lawson.env env. variables were being pulled in for TF** version and paths.
