LSF Security - securing print manager access VOTE
deanna-plant
We are in the process of converting to LSF Security from LAUA. We just found out that Windows customers are unable to secure user print managers by "group" (Unix customers can secure by groups of users). The only two Windows options are 1) access to only your own print manager, or 2) access to all user print managers. For backup purposes we must allow users to share print managers but have no way to do this without opening them up to all print managers. This would defeat the purpose of securing the data (company, process levels, etc) that they are restricted to within the application security. I have submitted an enhancement request - PLEASE VOTE on enhancement # 31121!
If anyone knows a way to workaround this flaw, please let me know.

You can write security rules specifically around the print manager and the reports and data contained in it. Out of the box, if I do not have access to AP150 and access someone's print manager who does, I will not see the AP150 reports in the other user's print manager.
As far as company or process level data restriction, if you have the database tables secured correctly using rules on the tables to restrict the data, then the data on the reports will be limited as well.

It is quite salient what Jeremy says.
If you are using Print Groups for Jobs, if the relevant User does NOT have even Inquiry access to AP150 (in his example), he will NOT be able to see the output.
We actually wrote a specific Role to accommodate Print Manager access. In fact, we were not able to just give acccess to specific Users, so what we had to do was write a Role which enabled each User to see their own Print Manager only. Those Users who needed access to everyone's, or other people's Print Manager queue, do not get the Role.
Seems to work successfully.
