Does anybody use dEPM for cost allocation?

Is that standard dEPM functionality or custom made applications?

 

Our story:

Trying to choose right solution for cost allocation alongside with ERP. What integrator proposes to use is custom made module based on on-prem LN 10.6 (with migration to target for implemantation 10.7). Our financial experts suggest it as not flexible enough. Because of planned ERP modifications, we will use modified system objects for allocation process. So uncertainty in end realisation and possible business changes let us suggesting dEPM as a solution for cost allocation as more flexible.

The default allocation functionality in d/EPM is there to support the budgeting process, such as in Workforce Budgeting, but you could create a custom cube to model cost allocations for actuals. You would need to design the cube to support the basis for the allocations and the appropriate level of detail (by month? by department? by entity?). You could build interfaces in App Studio to allow you to enter drivers for the allocation basis if needed, and create rules or processes to execute the allocation. This would require some careful planning on your requirements, such as whether you would generate reports from d/EPM or whether you would see to load the allocated values back to LN. You would also want to think through the process flow, such as how frequently the cost allocations will be performed (at month end? daily?). The version of d/EPM you are using should also be considered (version, on prep/cloud) as that would impact the method you would use for the data integration between LN and d/EPM.
