LP - New 2016 Accrual Limit

We are reducing our paid leave accrual limit from 400 to 300 hours effective Jan 1, 2016.

Employees who have a balance above 300 at year end will have till end of June 2016 to use amount over 300. I need to figure out how to set up LP plan to accomidate this change.

I looked at using Carryover functionality but, after reading about it in the User Guide, it will not work for us. Does anyone have any ideas?

You can set up your new rule with the new lower limit in January and not affect the people with balances over it. They simply will not accrue anything more until they use hours and reduce their available balance to below the new limit. Doing it this way, a manual review at the end of June 2016 would then be required to reduce any overages.

Oh that sounds great! I assumed when I added new effected dated Plan Structure to include new Limit Rule that balances above the new limit would have to be set apart some how. But if they can reamin and simply no accruals will take place until the balance goes below limit that would be perfect. Much simpler than I anticipated!

All I ever do is change the limit table on the limit rule. I've never seen where the effective date on the tables actually work the way you'd think an effective date would work. I've only ever seen it function as sort of a history field for your purposes, meaning you will know that as of 01/01/2016 you added this new table. Now if you are planning on creating a whole new plan structure and moving everyone to it...that is a different story. Feel free to contact me if you want more details.
