PA02 Positions - Need to correct

We have accidentally entered an effective date of 2106 instead of 2016, for an update made to a position. Lawson will not allow me to delete the record, due to employees assigned to the code, nor will it allow changes to be made to the effective date.

Does anyone know how we can fix this?

The only recourse I have found is to pull those employees out of the position and create a new one to place them in.

when we run a position update, it updates as a personnel action and we see it in personnel action history - its tied to a PA52 actions eg Z-POSITION so we go to PA52 and reverse the action and then you delete your position. hope this helps?

We had the same issue a few years ago. We added another position with the correct start date and an end date of 1 day prior to the existing record. You'll need to change the end date on the record that existed before the 2106 record was added to create a space to insert the new record.

we had this issue a couple of months ago. We opened a ticket with support and they walked us thru it. However, the record still showed up in the history. I ended up doing a paint screen on one of the files to delete it. If the above recommendations don't work let me and I will research all the steps we did.

For fixing the actual position record, pull up the prior row of history for that position. Re-enter the change with the appropriate effective date and provide an end date matching the data entry error.

Once this is done and pushed through to the employees, you should be able to delete the future dated record and remove the end date of the now correctly effective dated top row.

Next to fix the employees you need to determine if the correction to the position created a new row in the employee's personnel actions history.

If it did not, then you need to use PA54 to correct the effect date of the one "Position update" action that was created.

If it did, then you'd either need to delete the future dated row or merge it into the correctly dated row, both can be done via PA54.
