ION Connecting with RaspberryPi MySQL???

Hello ION Community,

Wondering if there were any savvy ION users that was successful in creating a Connection between ION and RaspberryPi MySQL?

I was thinking of using a low cost pi as a POC to retrieve IoT sensor data stored in the MySQL. Thinking I better check before proceeding any further.

In the past, we've used Node-RED to read sensor data and feed it into IoT. Not sure if this will help in your instances, but it might be worth looking at.

The fact that the db runs on RaspberryPi is invisible to ION. ION's DB connector/ IOBOX connector - connects to an application's database using JDBC. As long as the Raspberry pi destination can be reached via a standard JDBC URL and that you have the correct JDBC driver in ION for it, you should be able to reach the DB. ION Technology Connector Admin guide has the steps on how you can register your own JDBC driver to ION.

Thanks Vignesh. I am kind of confused now.
At one point, I thought one had to install EC onto the host server in order for ION to connect. Is that not the case anymore? I cannot seem to find Enterprise Connector software in the documentations.

If your Infor OS is in our Saas MT cloud environment, then the Enterprise connector is that bridge to your on premise data sources. If this is MT, then you will need EC to reach the mySQL database via the driver.

Oh m'gosh, I read through the EC section. It is definitely above my comfort level. I looked at the system pre-requisite and it appears the Raspberry pi may not be able to host an EC.

I read a line where it states "Only an outbound connection is required". Since I only want to retrieve data from my SQL database, I am now re-thinking on what Vignesh was trying to convey. The fact that the db runs on Raspberry pi should not matter to ION. If I have the correct JDBC URL and the proper access, I should be able to pull data from my SQL. Now, the task is to find that JDBC URL to my Raspberry pi db. Oh, the plight of a noob trying to take on too much. I hope I can find the solution so that I may post it here.
