We are on S3 and when an employee clicks on Payment Modeling in ESS they get the pop up dialog box with this message---Exemptions invalid for 2020, remove and recalculate. Can you tell me why they are receiving this message?
This error is the result of an enhancement made to PR89 to not allow modeling using both Exemptions and a Form Year of 2020 or later, which if done would return inaccurate result as Exemptions are no longer valid after 2020.
A workaround to get past the error is to remove the value in the Exemptions field on the PR13.1, Else at this time, the recommendation is to utilize PR89 rather than ESS Payment Modeling.
There is a JT for this issue (EMSS JT-1551734) that is currently scheduled to be included in the next EMSS build which is anticipated to be released in the next week or so.
Wondering if the patch fixed your issue? We are having the same issue but it's around state taxes. We are in Wisconsin and the state is choosing not to follow the federal W4 form, so still allows exemptions. When an employee completes the state withholding in ESS, the system is populating the Form Year field. And, if the employee has exemptions, they receive this error message. We were given CTP 123414 for a fix but are still receiving the error.
The CTP you were given (CTP 123414) is an S3 patch which would not effect ESS. Updating to the current EMSS build should resolve your error.
Kristen, do you upgrade to the current version of EMSS? If yes, did this fix your issue?
Yes, we upgraded to the newest version of EMSS. Our issue was that we received the error and then couldn't get back to the payment modeling page at all (it would just spin). We still receive the error if exemptions are entered and the Form Year field is also populated. However, now we are able to get back to the payment modeling page and remove the Form Year field to recalculate.
