Extended Query Fields Not Displaying

Using Visual 9.0.8 SP4.

I have a report with an extended query that is valid SQL. The fields from the extended query will display in the detail block on the QRP, but not the header as they did in the old version (6.5.2 - yeah I know, HUGE jump).

Anyone else seen this before and have a solution?

Infor is, as always, reluctant/unwilling to help resolve anything that even wanders near "customization" territory.

Have you tried viewing the report on screen, rather than printing to see if that allows the extended query information to display in the header? I know that it should not make a difference, but it may per the support articles below.

The following Infor support articles all mention various problems when extended query information is added to the header in Visual 8.0.0 or later - those bug reports suggest that what you are trying to do is supported usage:

KB 1971206 - "Extended Query not working on picklist when Sequence Attachments is selected"
KB 2141317 - "Extended query against the Work Order Traveller when printing 'Multiple' orders displays data out of sync"
KB 2139417 - "Data brought in via extended query not showing up on all invoices when they are e-mailed."

Charles, did you mean to say that what I'm trying to do is SUPPORTED or UNSUPPORTED usage? I'll look at those articles now. They were not ones I'd seen yet, though I'd looked at others.

I just looked at those KB articles. Only the 3rd one mentions the header, and it still displays correctly when viewed/printed. That's where I'm having my problem, not emailing. The other two arent' specific enough in the details to say for sure and they don't exactly line up with my issue.

Any other ideas? Below is what I am getting currently. I moved everything in the header down to the detail block and get this. Note that the first part where the data appears to be missing is NOT the header. There are 0 lines in the header. The second section with all the data is what should be showing up.

The support articles I mentioned suggest that placing extended query results into the header of a Gupta report is a SUPPORTED configuration. Take another look at the KB articles:

KB 1971206 "add both input variables to the report in the Header... Program Error... Candidate for Development"
KB 2141317: "add the two new fields to the Page Header section... Pending Defect 732629 Resolution."
KB 2139417 "Add the new Input Variable to the Page Header section of the report... Defect 731808 has been completed in... SP5"

The extended query is executed once per detail row, which might be related to why that extended query behavior is potentially unpredictable in the header (potentially before the detail row is retrieved) / footer area (potentially after the next detail row is read - that next detail row was too large to appear on the page) of the reports.

Specifically, which Visual report (and Visual module) is not working correctly? The report and module is not clear from the partial screen capture. Also, what is the exact extended query that you are using?

Unsure if this is your specific issue; We had an issue where the extended query was returning null data in the first data row - it threw off our report headers in a similar fashion. The details looked fine as it was skipping the 'blank' row.

I have no clue, but what about creating a "total" with pre fetch and analyze after every detail?
