How to get different Home Pages for one Web Application based on the Role/Security Class

Hello All,

We are in the process of implementing the CSF application for a large bank in middle eastern region. Customer has security requirements specific to their job profiles and we needs to customize the security based on their need.

I would like to know if it is possible to have two different home pages for one Web Application by Security Classes or Roles e.g. Staff Accountant. One user should be seeing the Stafff Account Home Page with Set Up inquiry column and other user shouldn't be seeing the Set Up Inquiry Column.

Hi Ashok,

Yes, but not by having a Page A and Page B. You will have one Page but use visible when (SomeCondition) to hide/show content based on Role or Group. You will need to use this special part of SimpleCondition:

ActorCondition ::= [authenticated] actor (has role | in group) <Text>

Example Conditions:

ActorIsStaffAccountant

when (actor has role "StaffAccountant_Ashok")

ActorInStaffAccountantGroupX

when (actor in group "StaffAccountantGroupX")

What is "in group" you wonder? Great question! That taps into the Landmark Actor Group feature. Actor Groups are user-defined groups, in a hierarchy if desired, that can contain actor(s) at each level. Today you create and maintain Actor Groups using UI, IPA, Web Services, ISD, etc. ActorGroup is just a framework BusinessClass.

Back to your use-case... you wanted "Set Up inquiry column" to show/hide... That is likely a list definition somewhere (not the webapp home page itself). On that List you would say "column visible when (ActorIsStaffAccountant)" to the "Setup" display field. Let the world know how that goes. I'm a bit fuzzy on the exact app names, etc here. Hopefully you know what I mean. Party on.

So the Actor Group (ActorGroup) is different than the Custom Group (BusinessClassGroup), correct? I assume you can do a similar thing to check if an employee ID exists in a Custom Group?

Excellent question. Yes, Actor Group (ActorGroup) is different than the Custom Group (BusinessClassGroup). Today ActorGroup is not dynamic like BusinessClassGroup where membership is based on application conditions / rules. That capability is something we did want to add into ActorGroup somehow, but it's a roadmap item only at this point.

Well, the Condition is added as a UserField of type Condition. That is added to the BusinessClass for the List you are trying to control. You then configure the List itself. ""column visible when" will be added to the DisplayField:

column visible when (ConditionY)

column visible only works based on some parent or upper level context, which "actor has role" should be.

Is it possible to create new Web Applications or must we simulate that by having a host web application and using code to essentially split it in two based on a role an actor would have?

It is not possible today to create your own brand new "User" Web Application (webapp).

How would you do the "actor has role" but opposite. "Actor doesn't have role"? "Actor isnt in Role"?
