Barcode Scan using Camera on Device

Has anyone been able to use an iPad/iPhone and/or Android Tablet/Phone to Scan a Barcode into a Field on your Form?

I know that Factory Track can scan using specific Devices with scan functionality, but I have the need of creating an application were we want to force the scan of Barcode to ensure that the correct information is used (no manual entry).

I have looked at using a 'Component Class' to identify the type of Barcode used when scanning, but I need to trigger the internal camera to read the Barcode, and this is where I'm getting stuck.
Looking at C# samples for .Net out there it sounds like there's no "simple" way to do this, but I would have hoped that there was more than me who have had this requirement in Mongoose?

Appreciate any feedback available.

I believe the Mongoose barcode component only creates a barcode.

For reading a barcode using the device camera, you can create a user component using js off of this

zxing-js.github.io/.../

Dedicated barcode scanning devices work to input data based on a barcode because they are operating as a "keyboard wedge" device which essentially makes the scanner into another keyboard so it's input is recognized by the operating system.

To use an iPhone/iPad camera, you would have to be running the form on the iPhone/iPad. Even then you would have to paste the value into the form field because the camera only captures the value to the clipboard. You would have to use an app like Scandit Keyboard Wedge that gives you a key on the iPhone/iPad on-screen keyboard to capture the value of the barcode directly into a form field running on the device.

Using a separate Bluetooth scanner that has a purpose-built driver works a lot better even when using it with an iPhone or iPad. You would want something like this 2D device from Amazon that can clip to the back of an iPhone: www.amazon.com/.../B0897CTTWG

Infor GO provides the ability to call out events using JSON Messaging that can activate the camera of IOS/Android devices that can capture barcodes and return those values to the application for processing.
