Lead time in Visual vs lead time in LN

Hello all,

We are in the process of migrating from Visual to LN ERP (Cloud 10.7) .

I understand how LN works and I am clear on the lead time functionality in LN because it didn't change much since the Baan days.

However, it doesn't serve the need in our business scenario.

We are currently getting our order lead time from Visual - Visual doesn't have multiple places for order lead time unlike LN . So we can expect this to be the COLT in LN.

The difficulty we are facing is to split this single lead time value from Visual and assign this lead time to the different fields in LN now(safety time , extra lead time , outbound time , inbound time... ).

We are currently putting all our time in the ''Extra lead time'' in Items-Planning at site but this doesn't provide a favorable solution - the planned production order is starting and completing on the same day but because there is an extra lead time , order gets backdated to the past instead.

All I am looking for is some sort of recommendation as to what could work and what was done by previous clients who migrated from Visual to LN .

Hi Siri,

We do not migrate from Visual. But if I understand your question correctly, you have production orders which need to differ the start- and due date. So I will give it a try.

What might work for you is using job shop routings. Add an operation (with the desired cycle time, could be 0). In the operation details you can add queue, wait and move times. Infor LN adds these to the production order to differ between start- and due date. If you add for example queue time, it supposes you will first have to wait, so material availability is needed later (in MRP). If you add move time, it expects materials to be needed at the start time of the production order, but the production order due date/time will be later. 

If you also need the lead time to work for ATP purposes, you can add the order lead time in the routing header field. ATP will calculate with that as production time.

By the way, we cannot read your incident. I guess it is not published by Infor?
