Error trying to edit bookmarks LO12.1

Greetings,

I am fairly new to the world of Lawson and I'm learning as I go

)

I have built new servers to replace our aging servers. I know that the patches are behind, but that issue is to be addressed once we migrate to the new servers (We wanted the new servers to be mirror images of our live servers so that the migration would go smoothly) . The new servers have been up for several months with no issues or errors until this week when I attempted to edit the bookmarks.

Portal version: 9.0.1.8.296
Technology: 9.0.1.8.370

Most recent changes to my new TEST environment:

Year end PR update #97201
Year end PR update #98329
Loadusers Roles - Loaded from file derived from PROD
LoadUsers Users - Loaded from file derived from PROD
Loadusers Identities - Loaded from file derived from PROD

So I had no issues when I originally created, or edited bookmarks back in September. I applied the year end patch in December and one in January.
I also utilized the loadusers tool to load users from our current PROD server.

The issue now is that when I go to bookmark manager, I right click and select edit and I get a popup error: "Servlet Xpress reported: Unable to generate the form requested."

I found KB# 1187788 and tried running the scrgen and xscrgen command. I then refreshed the cache, but I still get the same error.

I tried to rebuild the forms index, and also refreshed the IOS cache.

I also tried to open LO920, thinking it is an issue with LOGAN, and sure enough, I got an error on that form too: "Servlet Xpress reported: Server Response not populated." I originally used this form to load my bookmarks, so I know it worked at one time.

Support indicated that we were too far behind on patches and couldn't assist me any further until the patches are applied. They said year end could not have affected LO12.1.

Has anybody experienced this before? Any thoughts on applying the latest LCT for 9.0.1.8 in hopes that it will fix the issue?

What version of IE is the client running? I've seen an error similar to that when the user is running IE-11. If you can still access this form (any form) on your old server then it's not the browser.

The other thing to look at is file permissions. It is possible that Xpress is telling the truth in this case (sort of) and that it cannot actually create the form because it can't write in the directory.

Can you run any other forms?

IE version = 9

I can open LO12.0 on our existing server using the same browser that I am using for the new servers. So I can rule out the browser as the cause of my issue

I worked last week on mass importing users, groups and roles with the loadusers utility. perhaps that messed permissions up. Although I know for sure that I did not intentionally modify directory permissions.

We had this issue a couple of years ago. It was actually an issue with the bookmark load. If that is your issue also, to fix it you will need to reload the bookmarks from scratch. See KB1202765 for instructions. Note: The one thing that article does not mention is the LOBKCONFIG table which sets the Last Bookmark Number, so if you do have to reload, you would want to set that back to 0 or 1 so your reloads will load in order and not all start at a higher number. You can do a view on the table to see what it is currently set at and compare that once you have all the new loads done. I would suggests opening a ticket with support if you are new on this to make sure you have all the information you need before starting.

So the PL forms work but not Logan? Is your security messed up somehow? Did you try to run the form as 'lawson' with security turned off? If it's a security issue, turning security off should make it work. Do an IOSCacheRefresh before trying to load a form.

I saw you ran xscrgen, but did you run scrgen? You may get some type of message that indicates the actual error. Can't quote "official" documentation, but I always run srgen, scrgen, and xscrgen in that order.

You can test the form with LID to rule out the web piece. If LID works, there can be something wrong with your CLASSPATH or other settings in WAS.

lbrantley, I did open a ticket with Support, they said I was too far behind in patches and that I would need to apply the patches before they could assist me further.

Sal you hit the nail on the head!!!!!! I turned security off and I can now access the LOGAN forms. Thank you very much, you have made my week!

Glad to help.

Uh.... After you fix the security class, don't forget to run 'bldsecdict logan' if you are using LAUA.
