how to send output values from ION Script to Workflow

Hi,

I have ION Script.

Input is an XML file.

Output is some four variables - values extracted from XML.

How do I send these fore variables to Workflow?

In DataFlow there is Input document and output document.

I created simple file template for output document with root element and four fields.

How do I map script output values to output document?

What are "document script parameter" and "header script parameter" for?

And why I am getting this error when I test script in DataFlow.

Any hints will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You need to build an XML document in the Script and set that to output variable and call the workflow where you can set the XML elements to the workflow parameters.

So ION Script can handle only one output variable and it has to be XML (or JSON) file?

I need to generate two base64 variables based on input XML file data.

Is is possible to insert these base64 var into output XML fields?

Output can be ANY Document or XML or JSON but your requirement is to pass it to a workflow, in that case, it needs to be a BOD so the output should be a BOD and you can set base 64 values in the XML element. Also, the workflow will accept sync, process BODs, please do check on that requirement as well.

Output XML/BOD from script (Document mapping-> Output document) can be directly used to feed workflow.

If you plan to use output variable from script then use below setup,

Output tab-> Document script parameter: dataout (<output name form script>), Headers script parameter: From Input Document.

Workflow accept only BOD, so create BOD in script and pass it out via output parameter. when calling Workflow, use Attributes tab to extract data from BOD to local variable. Use parameter tab to pass value from local variable to Workflow variable.

ION Script can support multiple Output variables. It is constrained by the use case of Doc Flow or Workflow.
