Hello,
I would like to know what best practices you have adopted around data migration.
What techniques do you use? Only via BOD-based data flows.
Or do you use special tools?
Regards
Hi,
I think the best tool for data migration is LN's own tool. You find it under Tools/Integration Tools/Exchange.
Do you know if similar tools are existing for M3 ?
Unfortunately I don't know M3 at all...
Hi Denis,
For simple tables (i mean no intelligence required), use EVS100. Find attached an Infor document presenting this functionnality.
Build your excel file, put it in the below folder (use M3 admin tools, business files) and open EVS100. Select your file, related option 20 "import", win.

Thank you Maxime
You use it for specific data recovery, for example when implementing an ERP system to recover data from the old system.Or do you also use it more routinely as an interface tool?
Am I mistaken in thinking that this is a legacy practice from before Cloud solutions? And that now we should think exclusively about BOD exchanges. Or are all methods the same? I had read that in order to avoid "stressing the cloud", we should prefer asynchronous methods and therefore avoid APIs. Is it a wrong reading on my part?
And, if you have something more complicated to import; wich alternative methodo do you use ?
I've heard of a product like smart data tool but it seems to be paid for. I don't know if this product is based on the same technique as the EVS100 program
Never used SDT as customers need to pay for it. I think that it ressembles EVS100 and it's using excel files.
When speaking of integration, your primary tool is ION/MEC for inbound interfaces and M3/EventHub (EventAnalytics)/MEC for outbound interfaces (from M3 point of view).
For more complex data migration where intelligence is required, you may build a MEC mapping based on a custom BOD.
