Alternative Financial Reporting Tools

Hi,

I was wondering if people who use the Infor M3 Cloud would share information on what other reporting tools they may use for GL and Financial Reporting. Whether you are able to connect to M3, or if you do some type of extract from M3 and load into another Data store.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

In my first Cloud project now and I find the tools not good enough.

We are basically depending on M3 Analytics where M3 cannot give us necessary data from panel to Excel.

There is a huge need to build customized reports in Analytics but it is not as straight forward as described in user guides and Campus trainings.

A great solution would be to extract data from Datalake to Excel and prepare temporary reports in Excel, but unfortunately the connection to Datalake is a JBDC (Java) and not ODBC. Excel does not suppoert ODBC. a JDBC-ODBC bridge may be a solution but have not succeded in finding any straitght to the point information. The plan right now is to support the customer with very ad-hoc extractions using JDBC-tool, copy into excel if we do not manage to make simple Analytics data-reports.

HI TD,

From my experience in how we are currently reporting on our GL transactions. what we have done is we are utilising the datalake, in that we have certain tables that we are replicating from M3 into our data warehouse. the only issue with this is that the data will be out due to it being on a shedule.

The only other options i can suggest is to:

1) Create a custom list API and to use that to extract data from M3,

2) Use the "export to excel" button when you want to manipulate the data. the issue with this is that it is limmited to x amount of rows.

I have a similar issue, in that I have a need for some simple queries. I am pulling the data from Data Lake using the JDBC Driver - but i'm trying to figure out the best way for the end user to be able to run these queries. Any suggestions?

Hi. How are you doing 'replication'? Is it real time, or a scheduled extract?

I believe data lake is near real time - set by default in cloud edition.

Yes, I am using DBeaver, but I was hoping to not have to deploy DBeaver to the end user - Note: I'm new to DBeaver as well - so if there is a way to establish a embedded connection or something - that may work.

This is real time give or take a few minutes.

When we carry out an environment refresh we run this manually so all data is replicated, during the day our datalake checks to see if any tables or records have been created or modified and will only replicate them to our database.

Correct. I just wasn't sure when he mentioned in that we have certain tables that we are replicating from M3 into our data warehouse if that meant they were replicating from the data lake to their external warehouse environment, or if 'replication' was M3 to Data Lake

What tool do you use to replicate to your database? What tool within the data lake do you use to see if records created or modified and triggers the replication to your database?

Hi VWM,

the Custom API i believe the max rows is 1,000

and the Max rows for the Excel export is 10,000.
