I just noticed that this is no longer displaying, and I have no idea how long ago it disappeared. Our user names used to display in the top right corner with a 'Welcome" before it. Was that perhaps a customization that we lost??
I am assuming you are referring to the area in red box in this image? I am not sure where "Welcome" is referenced.
That is configured in your Admin settings by the administrator, under Master Portal Settings. Your admin might have changed this setting
Hmm. I have no "Master Portal Settings". We are on 10.0.9. I have never seen a Profile Header Customization screen. This is what I see when I log in (and I am an administrator of course).
Anyone else with any ideas?
It looks like the role files have changed - the ones we used with LSF9 had a "Welcome...." line in it, with the username. I don't think this changed with LSF10, but the role files we now have, don't have those lines in them. Somewhere along the way, that changed. I just don't know when.
Here's an old post that explains why the Welcome message has disappeared... and some pretty good alternatives/ideas in it. inforguru.com/.../Default.aspx
Thanks Greg. I don't really care about the "Welcome", it's the username display that I am looking for. We no longer have them displayed and that just seems sort of a dumbass idea to remove that display.
If putting the code back in place doesn't work, I'm not sure that you'll be able to get it to work. Here's an untested section of an OLD role file that I had...
<ROLE id="lawusers.xml" version="10.0.9"> <HOME>home.htm</HOME> <WELCOME> <![CDATA[&&divWel&& <<FirstName>>]]> </WELCOME> <FIND> <MENU id="LAWMENUBTNSEARCH" type="SEARCH">
Thanks Greg. I tried doing exactly that. yesterday. I got this error...
Is there anyone else that has this issue? Or can offer any suggestions? Every document I see online shows that the user name is displayed at the top right - and ours no longer does, so somehow, something changed.
I suggest that you open an incident with the Infor Lawson for Ming.le support team so they can explain how this works. Once that is cleared up, you can respond within this post so the others that are following and helping you here can see the answer.Thank you
Yes I have done that. They are still trying to figure it out.
Here is the resolution. Apparently they removed this feature from portal in 10.0.9 and we never noticed it.
If you use Ming.le, you can see the user names there, but for us it is an unnecessary and cumbersome layer that we do not want to use.
They have brought the feature back, in portal 10.1. So at least we will have it back, when we get to 10.1. For now, we will have to do without.
