Background
Over two years ago, Infor made the decision to adopt a weekly cadence of delivering updates to the LMS. While this schedule has worked well overall, in the last few months, some of our customers encountered issues with the weekly releases that hindered their daily activities. Several issues impacted specific modules such as Content Creator CE, Certifications, Courses/Events, Notifications, and Reports. We very much regret the inconvenience and interruption of service this has caused, and as a result Infor has conducted a thorough analysis of these issues and identified corrective actions.
Corrective Actions
Working closely with our Support, Development, and QA teams, we have identified several key steps designed to help to avoid these types of issues from reoccurring. The first step is a change to the cadence of delivering updates. Beginning July 29th, code releases will be deployed on a bi-weekly (every two weeks) cadence. This allows our Development and QA teams more time for the following activities:
? Extended Development team analysis process before providing solutions
? Enhanced Upgrade and Smoke testing
? Targeted Regression tests beginning with the LMS modules with the highest number of reported cases – Content Creator CE, Certifications, Courses/Events, Users, Notifications, and the Next Gen Portal
? Updated QA process to include testing on client data to identify data-specific issues.
Additionally, we are continuing to focus on reducing the backlog of client-reported open tickets and maintaining the number of these tickets at the lowest possible level. At the same time, we are reviewing the library of the QA Test Cases and performing maintenance activities for the automation of test scripts to increase the effectiveness, test coverage, and execution speed in testing fixes and enhancements.
All of these steps are on track for the bi-weekly release target date of July 29th.
